YEREVAN, AUGUST 6, ARMENPRESS. U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper has said that any Turkish action in northern Syria would be “unacceptable” and that the US would prevent unilateral incursions, Reuters reports.

Earlier on Sunday Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country will carry out a military operation in northern Syria, a Kurdish-controlled territory east of the Euphrates.

 “Clearly we believe any unilateral action by them (Turkey) would be unacceptable,” Esper said.

“What we’re going to do is prevent unilateral incursions that would upset, again, these mutual interests... the United States, Turkey and the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) share with regard to northern Syria,” Esper said.
