Armenian minister, Italian Ambassador discuss bilateral cooperation opportunities in a number of fields

YEREVAN, MARCH 18, ARMENPRESS. Minister of transport, communication and information technologies Hakob Arshakyan received Ambassador of Italy to Armenia Vincenzo del Monaco, the ministry told Armenpress.

At the meeting minister Arshakyan touched upon the effective cooperation between the two countries in the field of road construction and highlighted the desire to further deepen it, as well as establish and expand partnership in the field of high technologies.

In his turn the Italian Ambassador thanked for the reception and congratulated the new Armenian government, stating that Armenia and Italy have very positive relations not only in transportation and road construction sectors, but also in different branches of economy. He stated that all opportunities exist to further intensify the partnership between the two friendly states.

Minister Arshakyan said the Armenian side is looking for a good partner, in person of Italian companies, and sees a great cooperation potential in the field of high technologies. He proposed to hold an Armenian-Italian business forum for the high technology companies.

The Ambassador said there are many interesting projects in Italy in the technology sector, startups are actively developing, and the smart city is the philosophy of the technological sector.

The officials also touched upon the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2019) to be held in Armenia on October 6-9. The Armenian minister highlighted the importance of the participation of Italian companies to this event.

At the meeting the sides reached an agreement to systematically present the cooperation directions and develop a roadmap for actions aimed at boosting the bilateral technological cooperation.
