Belarus unhappy with level of Eurasian integration process

YEREVAN, MARCH 5, ARMENPRESS. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko argues that the Eurasian integration process isn’t making progress, it is rather declining.

“Many economic matters were transferred from the Union State agenda to the EAEU. Unfortunately, Eurasian integration is turning or has already turned back. I learn about barriers, obstacles and restrictions for our economic operators. The absence of meaningful efforts to remove them is covered by some digital agenda”, the Belarusian BelTA news agency quoted Lukashenko as saying at a session to discuss integration projects and cooperation with European organizations.

“Maybe, we need to go back to the package principle in addressing some burning issues and in removing barriers and restrictions? The answer to this question is important for the future of Eurasian integration.”

Lukashenko, however, affirmed that CIS countries remain a key partner for his country.

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) consists of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
