Israel’s Netanyahu comments on resignation of Iranian FM
YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 26, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the resignation of Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Reuters reports.
“Zarif has gone. Good riddance. As long as I am here, Iran will not have nuclear weapons,” Netanyahu said on Twitter.
Foreign minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif has announced his resignation on his Instagram account.
“Many thanks for the generosity of the dear and brave people of Iran and its authorities over the past 67 months. I sincerely apologize for the inability to continue the service and for all the shortcomings during the service. Be happy and worthy”, Zarif wrote.
According to Reuters, citing Tasnim news agency, some local sources familiar with the matter have confirmed Zarif's resignation, however, it was not immediately clear whether Iranian President Hassan Rouhani would accept it.
Zarif is serving as the foreign minister of Iran since August, 2013.
