Armenian President visits Munich Technical University in Germany
YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 18, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian on February 18 visited the Munich Technical University on the sidelines of his working visit in Germany, the Presidential Office told Armenpress.
At the beginning of a meeting with the University executives and teaching staff, University President Wolfgang Herrmann welcomed the Armenian President’s visit to the educational facility and stated that it’s a great honor for them to host Armen Sarkissian who is also a scientist. Wolfgang Herrmann introduced the University’s main activity directions, in particular, in the fields of natural sciences and medicine.
President Armen Sarkissian said it is necessary not only to preserve, but also to develop our traditions in the science field and reach them to a new level. “I would like to develop the cooperation between the Armenian and German universities, scientists of the two countries”, the President said.
Armen Sarkissian noted that Armenia relies not on the natural resources, but the human resources. “New technologies, innovations and startups are going to be our main locomotive. I am here to start a new partnership and will assist all efforts aimed at developing Armenia’s scientific and technological potential”, he said and invited the meeting participants to visit Armenia.
The University President highly valued President Sarkissian’s efforts aimed at developing science in Armenia and stated that they are ready to cooperate, adding that the Munich Technical University is carrying out programs of international exchange.
