GYUMRI, FEBRUARY 13, ARMENPRESS. Layoffs at municipal governments will be particular to each province, taking into account various mechanisms, Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Suren Papikyan told a news conference on February 13 in Gyumri.

Earlier on February 11, Papikyan said 30% of staffers at all Governor’s Offices will be cut.

“We’ve involved consultant firms who studied and separated which circles are the most inflated,” he told reporters today. Papikyan said re-organizations and structural changes will happen, as well as re-organization of functions.

“The number of layoffs will also be determined in the process. The issue of deputy governors will also be decided soon”.

He said the powers of governors will be stipulated by law on territorial administration, with the bill already in government awaiting circulation.
