PM Pashinyan highlights need to disseminate economic revolution in people’s consciousness

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 12, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian government sees the implementation of the economic revolution in the country via ensuring capital and property security, balanced tax policy, making the financial and investment resources available, encouraging the needy groups to work by creating a privileged tax environment, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during the debate of the government’s Action Plan in the Parliament, reports Armenpress.

“First of all, it is necessary to disseminate an economic revolution in people’s consciousness the main goal of which is the change of economic behavior”, he said.

Pashinyan added that they have some priorities and set of tools at this period. “The change of the government’s composition is taking place by the logic of these priorities which we must propose to the Parliament. As you know, we plan to establish a ministry of high technological industry in Armenia, and we consider this a key priority for making changes in the economic structure and the GDP composition in Armenia. By this we are sending a message that Armenia is a country that is interested in the development of this field, and we are also going to take actions to make the tax field more attractive for international investors”, Pashinyan said.

He also highlighted another key factor for the improvement of investment environment. “What tools the government should use, and whether during this period any set of tools has been used for improving Armenia’s investment climate, and what does this mean in general? Frankly, according to our vision, the improvement of the country’s investment environment firstly means raising the country’s international image. Because if the international business receives negative signals from somewhere, also over the political environment, that must definitely affect the investment attractiveness in the country. And I can state that currently Armenia is totally another situation because for many years the main discourse at this tribune, in Armenia has been let’s take and spend money so that Armenia’s name will be mentioned by BBC, CNN and other leading international media outlets, they will tell about Armenia, and this will lead to positive changes. And in fact, this process continues since April-May, 2018, and Armenia, as a country, gradually is being more recognized for the international community, and this process continues today, will continue tomorrow if the policy of democratic reforms continues in the country. And I have no doubt that this policy will continue”, he said.
