Minister Nalbandian said Armenia, committed to the BSEC strategic goals, reaffirms its support to the organization’s economic agenda which aims at expanding the regional cooperation deriving from the BSEC charter goals.

As for Armenia’s chairmanship at the structure, Nalbandian said Armenia will keep in spotlight the expansion of economic cooperation in the BSEC region and will promote the agenda through existing mechanisms in the upcoming six months.

Commenting on the BSEC reform process FM Nalbandian expressed confidence that at this stage in order to implement its main mission the BSEC needs practical and realistic steps, stating that the organization is able to raise its effectiveness through the decisions adopted by the ministerial council and implementation of resolutions.

The minister noted that the persistent attempts of some BSEC countries to politicize the organization’s activity affect not only the multilateral regional economic cooperation, but also the main basis of the organization, its main goals and question the BSEC reputation as an effective regional economic organization.

Commenting on the remarks of the head of Azerbaijani delegation, the Armenian FM said Azerbaijan’s attempts to serve the BSEC platform for promoting its narrow political interests undermine the BSEC economic cooperation and it is hardly possible to expect achievements within the organization if this platform continues to be used for propaganda purposes.

At the end of his remarks, the Armenian FM stated: “During its chairmanship Armenia will support the joint efforts that are directed to promoting the comprehensive regional cooperation and economic relationship”.
