Ambassador sees great and bright prospect for boosting Armenian-Iranian economic ties

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 15, ARMENPRESS. Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia Seyed Kazem Sadjadi sees a great and bright prospect for development of the Armenian-Iranian economic ties, reports Armenpress.

“The launch of the Meghri Free Economic Zone will contribute to increasing the trade turnover volumes between Armenia and Iran, exchanging experience with Iranian free economic zones”, the Ambassador said.

He added that the economic interest can be an impetus for Iranian businessmen to carry out activity in the Meghri FEZ. The Ambassador attached importance to boosting the commercial ties with Armenia’s Syunik province and expressed confidence that the trade office to be opened in Kapan will give new impetus to the economic partnership.

“A delegation will visit Kapan soon, and during the visit we hope that key agreements will be reached”, the Iranian Ambassador said.

The Meghri Free Economic Zone launched its activity on December 15 at the presence of Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan. The companies operating in the Meghri FEZ will be exempt from profit tax, value added tax, excise tax and customs fees, paying only the income tax. The fields of agriculture, processing industry, trade, transportation and storage economy, tourism will be presented in the FEZ.
