YEREVAN, DECEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS. The signing of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement with the European Union is a very good event both for Armenia, the EU and its member states, German Ambassador to Armenia Bernhard Matthias Kiesler told Armenpress.

According to him, this is a very important signal for foreign investors to see in what path Armenia moves on.

“Now it’s necessary to start the implementation stage, we need to see what we can do in different spheres”, the Ambassador said.

Asked how he will assess Armenia’s multi-vector policy, in particular, in the directions of the Eurasian Economic Union and the EU, the Ambassador said: “I have never understood this previously raised issue. Everything is good. I think, there is a field where the cooperation with one of the partners will be good, and there is a field where again the cooperation with the other will also be on a good path. As I said, we first of all need to implement this agreement, and it’s important also for the ordinary citizens to benefit from this. We say that this agreement is based on reforms, and thus, now we need to direct the actions to the respective spheres”, the diplomat noted.

He assessed the Armenian-German relations as excellent, and as for the economic relations in particular, he stated that still works need to be done.

“As a trade partner of Armenia Germany is fourth, and the third among countries exporting products to Armenia. You know that Armenia is a small market, somehow isolated, but I believe that there is a potential for a deeper cooperation”, Matthias Kiesler said, adding that the main fields for development of cooperation are agriculture, tourism and information technologies.

He said the German companies in general have a tendency of long-term mutually beneficial partnership, and a lot of works are needed to properly organize this so that it will be easy for an investor to start any business.
