Signing of Armenia-Japan new agreement will contribute to increasing bilateral investments
volume – Ambassador

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian and Japanese governments will sign an agreement on investments in near future, Japanese Ambassador to Armenia Eiji Taguchi told reporters on December 11, reports Armenpress.

According to him, the agreement will contribute to increasing the volume of investments between the two countries.

“This agreement doesn’t clearly define in which fields investments will be made, but it’s a general procedure for the future so that the Japanese investors will know and be confident that everything is regulated by the legislation. This is mandatory for the cooperation with any country where Japan plans to make investments. This agreement serves as a base for this”, the Ambassador said, stating that the innovative technologies, tourism and agriculture can be interesting fields for investments.

According to the Japanese Ambassador, only the development of economic relations is not enough for the mutual relations and partnership of the two countries, there are also fields which should be developed.

“Japan imports vehicles, equipment, heavy industrial equipment to Armenia, and it would be better if later there is a chance for Japan to import also medical equipment to Armenia. I think this is possible, and the Armenian market will be interested in this. As for the export from Armenia, I think, Japan will be interested in the Armenian wine, honey and dried fruits”, he said, adding that the annual food Expo will be held in 2018 within the frames of which the Armenian wine, brandy and other products will be presented.
