Syrian-Armenian refugee establishes beauty product business in Yerevan, eyes int’l markets

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Shant Khayalyan is one of the numerous Syrian-Armenians who was forced to re-locate to Armenia as the war broke out in Syria. Shant arrived in Yerevan in 2013.

Back in Syria, he was working in commercial design, even had a olive plant and was engaged in other jobs as well. He also had a hobby of making soaps from natural compounds. At that time, he used to give his soaps to friends and family, or display them at exhibitions.

Once his production was displayed in Jordan, receiving widespread approval.

In Armenia, Shant decided to make a living out of his hobby. He applied for a low-rate loan to the national center of SME development.

“Naturally there were some difficulties”, he says.  In addition to soaps, he also began making natural shampoos.

The Syrian-Armenian entrepreneur has already displayed his production in Iran and Kazakhstan, and is planning to exhibit the beauty products in Georgia and Lebanon soon.
