Armenia as EAEU member presents great interest to Israeli investors

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Businessmen express hope for significant progress in the Armenian-Israeli trade-economic relations.

Businessman, Vice President of the Israel-Armenia chamber of commerce Suren Shahnazaryan said the level of economic cooperation is not so satisfactory, but there are grounds for optimism.

“The Israel-Armenia chamber of commerce makes the maximum efforts for strengthening the trade-economic ties between the two countries”, the businessman said.

He said the export volume from Armenia to Israel in 2016 comprised 2.5 million USD, and that from Israel to Armenia – 3 million USD.

“Precious metals are mainly exported at both directions. There is an activeness of development of business ties between the two states, there are prospects for cooperation in the spheres of agriculture and information technologies. Agriculture and high technologies in Israel are among the most developed fields of the region. We see significant prospects for the two countries in terms of development of these spheres. It’s worth mentioning that Armenia is an interesting destination for Israeli tourists. Tourism is a priority direction for the two sides”, Suren Shahnazaryan said.

According to him, Armenia, as a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), presents a great interest to Israeli investors.

“It would be convenient for the Israeli companies to work in Armenia”, he said.

Commenting on the Armenian foreign minister’s visit to Israel in early November, the businessman said it was very important in the context of boosting the bilateral economic ties. “For the business development it’s important to create a calm environment for an Israeli investor and stable diplomatic ties”, Suren Shahnazaryan said.
