More than 200 staff dismissed from state revenue committee in 6 months

YEREVAN, MAY 27, ARMENPRESS. Job cuts are underway in the state revenue committee (SRC) system, SRC chairman Vardan Harutyunyan told reporters on May 27.

“Structural changes haven’t been done in the SRC for a long time, and now we’ve decided to carry out these changes. This isn’t linked with the case that the staff was exaggerated in the past, nothing like that, we simply need to walk with time. We live in an era of technology, and we must comply everything with the current occurrences”, Hautyunyan said.

Asked how many SRC staff were cut from the beginning of the year, Harutyunyan said the changes have only recently begun, and therefore he can’t present numbers.

“But if I’m not mistaken, more than 200 staff members have been dismissed from SRC system from January. Let me emphasize that these aren’t cuts”, he said.

Commenting on the recent arrest of an SRC official, the head of Bavra checkpoint, Harutyunyan said the law was breached and the person responsible must be punished.
