Armenian deputy minister participates in Tbilisi Regional Energy Summit

YEREVAN, MAY 25, ARMENPRESS. The Regional Energy Summit kicked off in Tbilisi, the Georgian capital, where officials are due to discuss regional energy infrastructure, which is necessary for assisting trade and safe supply of electricity.

The event was opened by Georgia’s minister of energy Kakha Kaladze.

“The regional energy summit is the continuation of the trans-border energy trade summit and last year’s events”, he said.

Officials of Turkey’s energy and natural resources ministry, the Ambassadors of the US and Turkey in Georgia, representatives of the Georgian government, private and state-owned energy companies and scientists are participating in the summit.

Hayk Harutyunyan, deputy minister of energy infrastructures and natural resources of Armenia, is also participating in the summit.

“At the summit, I spoke about the significance of regional trade for energy development, as well as that it is necessary to identify the  barriers which obstacle trans-border trade. I also presented Armenia’s energy sector, the achievements, as well as ongoing and future investments programs, and the market’s liberalization process”, Harutyunyan said.

According to Sputnik News, the summit is held in assistance of the Georgian energy ministry, the USAID, G4G and EU4Energy.
