Deputy Minister indicates 3 key steps for boosting Armenia’s tourism

YEREVAN, MAY 24, ARMENPRESS. The Government of Armenia believes tourism is one of the cornerstones for the development of Armenia’s economy, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia Hovhannes Azizyan told during a conference on opportunities of Armenia to develop tourism. “We understand that tourism plays an important role for creating a positive image of our country in the eyes of the international community. We believe that by shaping a state policy in the sphere of tourism with the involvement of public-private sectors, as well as international organizations will lead to development of tourism in our country, which can be noted for the recent years”, “Armenpress” reports Azizyan saying.

According to him, Armenia has recorded serious achievements in the sphere of tourism in the last 10 years. “Our rich cultural heritage, the beautiful nature of the country, cuisine, and the hospitability of the Armenian people attract more and more tourists. We continue the works aimed at improving infrastructures to ensure better conditions and high level services for the tourists. Today the results of our efforts are already seen, but it’s not enough”, the Deputy Minister said.

He indicated three directions where Armenia still has to make efforts to further boost tourism. “We must continue developing air transport to offer more convenient transport routes for the tourists. We have to develop touristic infrastructures. We still have some troubles with hotels and roads. We also have to develop our so-called touristic talent. I mean we have rich cultural heritage, good cuisine, hospitable people, but we have to master adequate skills to offer services meeting international standards, since tourists are used to receiving high level service and paying for it”.

According to Hovhannes Azizyan, Armenia has broadly opened its doors in front of tourists and investors.
