DigiTech 2017 forum to focus on defense industry and security

YEREVAN, MAY 23, ARMENPRESS. The 10th annual DigiTech business forum entitled ‘Smart solutions for smart business’ will be held on June 9-10 in Yerevan.

The two-day forum is one of the key events of B2B format in Armenia and is an effective platform for the dialogue between the IT sector and other business fields.

The forum aims at contributing to the installation of information and communication technologies (ICT) in various fields of Armenia’s economy.

The forum is organized by the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Armenia.

UITE Executive Director Karen Vardanyan told Armenpress this year one of the features of the forum is that the preparation works of the 2019 World Congress on Information Technologies (WCIT) will be announced here in Yerevan.

The President and Secretary of the World Information Technology And Services Alliance (WITSA) will arrive in Armenia. The preparation works will be discussed, the brand of the Congress to be held in Armenia will be presented, which has been designed by UITE.

Karen Vardanyan informed that the DigiTech 2017 forum will continue the directions of the last year, which mainly are dedicated to defense industry and security.

“There will be a reference also to public procurement process, the participation of Armenian companies in public procurement. By cooperating with the State Tourism Committee, we will dedicate a big part of the forum to tourism. A number of problem discussions will be held which will be followed by displays of products of Armenian companies in tourism field”, Karen Vardanyan said.

Issues related to renewable energy and nature protection fields will also be discussed on the sidelines of the forum.

The annual DigiTech forum is being held since 2008 by UITE under the auspices of the PM. The 2016 forum was attended by 900-1000 participants. This year more active participation is expected.
