Armenia defines VAT privilege for import of military products from Russia by law

Armenia defines VAT privilege for import of military products from Russia by law

YEREVAN, MAY 17, ARMENPRESS. The Government of Armenia will discuss the draft law on “VAT exemption for imports of military products for the Armenian Armed Forces within the frames of intergovernmental agreements between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation”, reports Armenpress.

The issue is included in the Government’s May 18 session agenda.

The aim of presenting the draft is to define VAT privilege for import of military equipment by the law of the Republic of Armenia.

“By the agreement on ‘between the Governments of Armenia and Russia on providing state export loan to the Government of Armenia’, as well as within the frames of similar inter-state agreements, VAT privileges for the Armenian Armed Forces in terms of import of military equipment are not defined. Taking into account the necessity and importance of import of military products for the Armenian Armed Forces, a problem arises in terms of ensuring a respective legal framework for providing VAT privilege over import of military products for the Armenian Armed Forces within the framework of agreements”, stated in the draft’s explanation.

The policy run by the Armenian Government on this path aims at creating favorable conditions for import of military product for the Armenian Armed Forces.
