PACE to change rules of procedure to remove Agramunt as president

PACE to change rules of procedure to remove Agramunt as president

YEREVAN, APRIL 28, ARMENPRESS. On the very first day of PACE’s June sitting, the Rules of Procedure will be changed and a special provision will be set for removing Pedro Agramunt from the post of president, Armenia’s delegate to PACE Samvel Farmanyan said on Facebook.

He said the incumbent president of PACE Agramunt has chosen the option of humiliating himself to the end, by not appearing to the April 28 PACE Bureau session and not presenting his resignation as he previously promised to.

“In the given situation, the PACE Bureau was forced to make a humiliating and unprecedented de facto impeachment decision.

By the way, all lawmakers – 27, voted in favor of the decision, while three lawmakers from Spain and Azerbaijan abstained from voting.

As a legal resolution of the current shameful situation, the PACE Rules of Procedure will be changed on the first day of the June sitting and a special provision will be set for de jure removing Pedro Agramunt as president, if, of course, he stubbornly continues not resigning until then”, Farmanyan said.

He added that an extraordinary session of PACE EPP faction will be held in May in Prague to discuss the embarrassing and unprecedented situation.

The EPP will convene a special session in Brussels to discuss Agramunt’s shameful behavior.
