Congress-PPA bloc’s appeal lacked legal ground and evidence base, says CEC Chairman
YEREVAN, APRIL 28, ARMENPRESS. The Constitutional Court’s examination of the Congress-PPA bloc’s appeal to annul the April 2 parliamentary election results completely showed the appeal’s lack of legal grounds and factual basis, Tigran Mukuchyan, Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), told reporters, reports Armenpress.
“I have already had a chance to say that this was the first case in the history of Armenia when the Constitutional Court was discussing an issue which lacked both legal grounds and evidence base”, Mukuchyan said, adding that the Court’s decision could not be a surprise for those who followed the appeal’s examination process.
The CEC Chairman said the Court’s decision reflects the huge work that was done during the elections, the work that contributed to ensuring trust towards the electoral processes and increasing the quality of elections.
On April 28 the Constitutional Court rejected the Congress-PPA bloc’s appeal to annual the April 2 parliamentary election results. The Court upheld the CEC protocol on election results.
