Stepanakert expects maintenance of regional stability from upcoming Lavrov-Nalbandian- Mammadyarov meeting
YEREVAN, APRIL 27, ARMENPRESS. Stepanakert highlights the upcoming April 28 trilateral meeting of the Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian foreign ministers in Moscow.
Davit Babayan, spokesman of the President of Artsakh, told ARMENPRESS they value each of these meetings, and noted that such meetings shouldn’t only be viewed from the perspective of the comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
“Long time is needed for a comprehensive settlement, great efforts are needed, there are numerous issues. All of this should be taken into account. That’s why we should view such meetings from a little bit of another perspective. Most importantly, we should view it from the perspective of maintenance of stability and peace in the region, and generally from the point of view of the peaceful settlement process’ continuity. If we view it in this arena, of course, any such meeting is very important”, Babayan said.
According to him, these type of meetings enable the process to be continuous, secondly the sides discuss the current regional situation, although not in full format.
“In addition, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries express their opinion and once again highlight the peaceful settlement of the conflict, maintenance of stability and peace”, he said.
Babayan draws attention on the fact that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have a common opinion for the NK conflict settlement issue.
“They have issues in various locations worldwide – contradictory, they even engage opposing policies in some locations, however in this region the maintenance of peace and stability stems from the national and humanitarian interests of all”, Babayan said.
At the invitation of the Russian foreign minister, Armenia’s FM Edward Nalbandian, Azerbaijan’s FM Elmar Mammadyarov and Russian FM Sergey Lavrov himself will hold a trilateral meeting in Moscow on April 28 to discuss the NK conflict settlement.
