Unexploded bomb discovered in another subway station in St. Petersburg

YEREVAN, APRIL 3, ARMENPRESS. An unexploded bomb device has been discovered in the “Ploshyad Vosstaniya” metro station of St. Petersburg, a source told Interfax.

Earlier on April 3 a suspected IED explosion inside a subway train of the St. Petersburg Metro system resulted in casualties among passengers, according to the transit system’s management. An evacuation is underway and some stations have been closed for entry, RT reported.

Preliminary reports indicate that some 10 people may have been killed and 20 injured in the blast, news agencies said citing sources close to the investigation.

The incident reportedly happened at the Sennaya station of the northwestern Russian city’s underground transit system.

At least eight stations of the metro have been closed for passengers.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has pledged a thorough investigation.

“We are considering all possible causes, including terrorism,” he said in a statement.
