Parliament's Deputy Speaker Sharmazanov sums up CSTO PA Council session results

YEREVAN, MARCH 29, ARMENPRESS. Eduard Sharmazanov, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Head of Armenia’s delegation to the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, summarized the results of the Council session of the CSTO PA held in St. Petersburg on March 26, reports Armenpress.

“The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly holds Council session two times a year. From Armenia I and Mr. Khosrov Harutyunyan took part in the regular session. Firstly I had a bilateral meeting with Chairman of Russian State Duma Mr. Volodin. During the meeting we once again reaffirmed the allied nature of our relations and attached importance to the development of relations in all spheres”, Sharmazanov said.

At the session Sharmazanov delivered a speech talking about Azerbaijan’s behavior on regularly violating the Vienna and St. Petersburg agreements. “During the session we stated that Azerbaijan constantly violates the Vienna and St. Petersburg agreements. We reaffirmed that we want peace, that we support conflict settlement exclusively through peaceful means, but we emphasized that in order to reach peace there is one condition for taking a big step which is the following: Azerbaijan must recognize the complete exercise of self-determination of the people of Artsakh”, he said.

In his speech Sharmazanov said the behavior of MPs of CSTO member states in various parliamentary assemblies, that contradict to CSTO interests, are impermissible. He said the session participants shared his views, and the State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin stated that steps must be taken so that the steps of MPs do not contradict to the interests of CSTO member states.
