Russian TV refuses to broadcast Eurovision-2017

YEREVAN, MARCH 23, ARMENPRESS. No Russian TV channel will broadcast Eurovision-2017 song contest which will be held in Ukraine, All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company’s correspondent said, vesti.ru reported.

“This year no one from Russia will go to the Eurovision, thus no TV channel will broadcast the contest”, the correspondent said, adding that next year, regardless of where the contest will be held, Russia will be represented by Yulia Samoilova.

Earlier TASS reported the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) has banned Yulia Samoilova from Ukraine for three years. The SBU claims that performing in Crimea in the summer of 2015, Samoilova violated Ukrainian government’s resolution obliging foreigners to receive permits for visits to the Black Sea peninsula.

Yulia Samoilova believes the situation with her being banned from Ukraine may still change.

“It is very funny to watch all this (Kiev’s ban) from outside, because I don’t understand what is it so special that they saw in me. They saw some threat in me, such a small girl. I am not upset, generally speaking. I keep training, and I still believe the things will change”, she saying as quoted by TASS.
