13.5 million Syrians need humanitarian aid: UN

YEREVAN, MARCH 10, ARMENPRESS. The humanitarian situation in Syria will deteriorate unless urgent and decisive measures are taken, as of now 13.5 million Syrian people need assistance, Filippo Grandi, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said, Interfax reported.
“The resources currently available simply don’t come close to meeting all the challenges”, he said.
Filippo Grandi stated that currently 13.5 million Syrian people need the assistance of the international community, adding that during the 6 years of the conflict 6.3 million Syrian people were displaced internally, 4.9 million people became refugees, nearly 3 million Syrians under 5 have grown up knowing nothing but conflict.
