YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 22, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s Minister of Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan on February 22 held a meeting with Member of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), Minister in charge of Internal Markets, Information Support, Information&Communication Technologies​ Karine Minasyan and Director of EEC IT Department Khazhak Karayan to discuss the strategic directions of the Digital agenda of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), press service of the Ministry told “Armenpress”.

Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments Emil Tarasyan and Deputy Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Arman Khachaturyan took part in the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies, State Revenue Committee, State Service for Food Safety and other interested agencies.

Minister Suren Karayan said in his speech: “We are happy to welcome you to discuss this important topic. Digital economy is one of foundations of our prospective development”.

EEC Minister Karine Minasyan said Armenia has leading positions in the IT sector development, and there is a great potential to boost the digital economy.

EAEU countries plan to carry out the following steps in the common digital space:

       -Development of normative-legal base for digital economy in the Union’s member states

       -Creation of public-private sector cooperation in the field of digital economy

       -Support and assist digital initiatives and programs

       -Ensuring dialogue and promoting the best experience in the digital economic field between all the interested citizens and organizations of the Union’s member states

During the meeting issues related to the steps to be taken by Armenia on the strategic directions of the EAEU Digital agenda were discussed.
