Turkish military lifts headscarf ban
14:26, 22 February 2017YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 22, ARMENPRESS. The Turkish military lifted the ban on wearing headscarves, MIlliyet reports.
According to the new rules, women serving in the Armed Forces, as well as students of military training centers and non commissioned officers are allowed to wear headscarves.
The ban was set since 1923. Several Turkish news agencies reported the lifting of the ban under the headlines: “the end of an era”.
