Tavush province investment programs ready to go; ropeway construction, agricultural businesses 
and wine production

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 21, ARMENPRESS. The investment projects of Tavush province are ready and waiting for investors.

Gurgen Harutyunyan, head of the analysis and development programs department of the Tavush Governor’s Office told ARMENPRESS numerous investment programs have already been endorsed by the Government.

Investment projects

Harutyunyan said there are numerous opportunities for investing in Tavush. A number of communities have presented their investment programs, financial flows are expected for those approved by the Government. The Gandzakar village proposed a project on harvesting, processing and marketing of herbs. From Haghtanak village, a program was presented on olive oil processing and vegetable oil production. “As a program, the restoration of Ijevan’s unfinished ropeway was proposed. It will definitely contribute to development of tourism. There is an area in the vicinity of the ropeway, where it is planned to build a large tourism center”, Harutyunyan said.

According to him, the Koghb village proposed a greenhouse business program. The Navur village proposed to make investments in meat processing and slaughterhouse program, a program of homemade wine bottling was brought forward in the Verin Karmir community, and in Ptghavan – a program of farming development, which will contribute to gardening development.

“The process has already begun, various agencies are inviting the authors of the programs for discussion and making suggestions regarding financial resources. By the way, one Argentine-Armenian came, he was interested in the Gandzakar and Koti business programs on herbs and meat production. He is ready to provide finances to villagers without interest rates for launching the business. As you see, there are various approaches for the financing of these programs. It’s not ruled out for a grant proposal to be made soon”, Harutyunyan said.

Social issues, infrastructures

After the community expansion, the regional development foundation is carrying out several programs. Namely, the foundation began a complex program in Dilijan city worth 850 million AMD. The state is providing various types of assistance to expanding communities. The programs are practically carried out by the communities themselves. The waste collecting vehicles have already been acquired, which will carry out waste management. The amount also includes programs of road renovation and daytime lighting, educational programs are also outlined. Tourism is under special attention. Several programs are also planned for the development of this sphere.

“A similar program is planned for Noyemberyan, Koghb and Ayrum. In addition, the regional development fund launched water supply improvement works in Baragavan worth 73 million drams, the works will continue this year. Village development works have been launched in 7 communities through the economic development program of village regions. Construction and reconstruction of water supply systems are underway in Artsvaberd, Koti, Aygedzor, Chinchin, Haghartsin, Norashen”, he said.

Development programs for agriculture

Like previously, this year also village businesses will be provided with nitrogen, potassium, phosphate fertilizers with affordable prices by state resources. Villagers are provided with diesel fuel by low prices as well.

“The Armenian Foundation of France invests approximately 400 million AMD each year in agricultural development. They established small farms, improved draining water supply systems. These works will continue in 2017. By the way, private investments have been boosted, especially in the hotel-restaurant sphere”, he said.

Security

The security issues of the province are under the spotlight of officials on the highest level. Every year works are planned in this direction. Harutyunyan said under various programs the construction of retaining walls and other necessary structures are planned.
