Armenia to continue negotiations on peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict – FM Nalbandian

Armenia to continue negotiations on peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict – FM
Nalbandian

YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS. Armenia sees no alternative to the negotiations on the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at a press conference on January 31, reports “Armenpress”.

“It’s not the first time Azerbaijan refuses from the agreements reached at various meetings, however, there is no alternative to the negotiations. Armenia continues making efforts aimed at finding such option of the conflict settlement which will strengthen the rights and security of the NKR people. That’s why it is necessary to continue the negotiations”, the FM said.

Commenting on Russian FM Sergey Lavrov’s statement who said the NK conflict is not only Azerbaijan’s internal affair, in response to a question of Azerbaijani reporters, the Armenian FM said Lavrov’s statement was clear, and added nothing. “Here I would like to comment on Baku’s justifications which said the Azerbaijani reporter asked the Russian FM this question on his own will. But the problem here is that this question was the repetition of the statement of the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia”, Edward Nalbandian said.

He said it is not a secret that during the April war Azerbaijan was trying to cast doubt on the 1994-1995 trilateral ceasefire agreement in different countries through its Ambassadors. “During those days the three Co-Chairs had to show Azerbaijan its place for several times, stating that the trilateral ceasefire agreement remains in force, and the sides must maintain the ceasefire. After that Azerbaijan announced that its Ambassadors in Vienna and New York acted arbitrarily. In fact, they are so entangled in their lies that cannot understand how to get rid of them. That’s way they are constantly appear in such ridiculous situations”, the Armenian FM said.
