EEC Board Chairman discusses EU-EAEU cooperation with Greek top leadership

YEREVAN, JANUARY 26, ARMENPRESS. Board Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tigran Sargsyan held working meetings with the President of Greece Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. As “Armenpress” was informed from the press service of the EEC, the meetings addressed a number of Greece-EAEU cooperation issues.

Tigran Sargsyan expressed conviction that thank to meetings with European leaders it will be possible to boost also EU-EAEU cooperation. During the working meeting Greek Premier Alexis Tsipras announced that his country is ready to support establishment of constructive and mutually beneficial relations between the two economic unions. Tsipras also stressed that holding “Greece-EAEU Business Forum” can outline new prospects for trade and industrial cooperation.

“Greece id EAEU’s traditional trade partner, but at the moment new opportunities emerge for Greek businessmen in the EAEU market. Thank to the works of the EEC, in the near future a single market with common technical regulations will be put into operation.  A single Customs Code in the area with a population over 180 million is already in use”, Tigran Sargsyan said.

In the meeting with President of Greece Prokopis Pavlopoulos Tigran Sargsyan expressed gratitude for that country’s clear position stance on EU-EAEU cooperation. “We believe the dialogue between EU and the EAEU is of key importance and can have exceptionally positive impact also on EU member states and cooperation with the EAEU”, Prokopis Pavlopoulos said.
