MP Harutyunyan rules out cooperation with opposition forces ahead of elections

YEREVAN, JANUARY 20, ARMENPRESS. “Christian Democratic Union of Armenia” party will not take part alone and with a separate list in the upcoming parliamentary elections, RPA faction MP Khosrov Harutyunyan said in a meeting with reporters on January 20, reports “Armenpress”.

“We know very well the capabilities of our party and do not have great ambitions. We will not take part alone in the electoral processes, and time will show in which format our participation will be”, Harutyunyan said.

In response to a question whether the party will take part in the elections with the RPA list, Khosrov Harutyunyan said it is still early to speak about it since at the moment the RPA is engaged in internal affairs. “As of this moment we don’t have a proposal from the RPA. But I can state that our cooperation with the RPA during these years has been productive. I am sure they also share the same opinion. If they find it appropriate to continue our cooperation, we are ready to cooperate”, Khosrov Harutyunyan said.

At the same time, the MP ensured that they will not cooperate with any opposition political force. “If we don’t receive proposal on cooperation from the Republican party, I will not join any other political force”, the MP said.

Armenia’s parliamentary elections will be held on April 2, 2017. The election campaign will kick off on March 5.
