YEREVAN, JANUARY 20, ARMENPRESS. The core of Unity party leader Vartan Oskanian’s alliance is already formed and is being expanded, former FM Oskanian told RFE/RL’s Armenian Service, stressing their goal is to form a wider alliance, and for that purpose simultaneous works are carried out with former defense minister Seyran Ohanyan.

“We have completed negotiations with Seyran Ohanian, although I wouldn’t call it negotiations because we both were on the same dimension, we had set the same issues and we see the same solutions. There is very harmonious cooperation here. Seyran Ohanyan will definitely have involvement in the alliance. Currently he isn’t affiliated with the party, and I think it will be maintained so, because we have an issue of expanding the alliance”, Oskanian said, adding that several parties have joined the alliance.

Speaking about their intentions of cooperation with Heritage party, Oskanian mentioned the fact that Heritage isn’t in the alliance is associated with, as they say in the Heritage party, they don’t have an inside decision.

The former FM says involving Raffi Hovhannisyan in the core of their alliance would be desirable.  “Let’s wait and see the developments. I hope Heritage will also take part in the further expansion of the alliance”, he said.

Oskanian didn’t rule out their political cooperation with Gagik Tsarukyan. Although they haven’t yet met, Oskanian says by uniting they will definitely present a much powerful force, but simply because its prerequisites aren’t there yet, he can’t say anything in that regard.

“I don’t have a problem with meeting Gagik Tsarukyan, I’m sure so does Seyran Ohanyan, let’s see what the process will bring. I am glad that he is returning, let him organize his alliance, then we’ll see”, Oskanian said.

Speaking on rumors about receiving support from 2nd President of Armenia, Oskanian said those reports are false, and Robert Kocharyan isn’t anyhow associated with his alliance and doesn’t have a desire to be involved.

He also added that former defense minister of Nagorno Karabakh Mr. Samvel Babayan currently has no role in the alliance’s activities.
