YEREVAN, JANUARY 16, ARMENPRESS. Armenia has a great potential to develop trade-economic cooperation with Iran, Head of “Alternative” research center, Doctor in economics, Professor Tatul Manaseryan told a press conference in “Armenpress”.

He said Iran is a big market, and active work must be done in order to use its opportunities.

“Iran opens up to the outside world, sanctions are being eliminated. This direction can be an alternative to the remaining directions. Iran is a country where everything exists in terms of resources, It is a country where the information technologies are demanded an unlimited form, and Armenia has something to offer, has an opportunity to enter that market. It is absolutely unnecessary to make great expenses from the budget in order to develop the trade-economic cooperation with Iran”, the economist said.

Speaking about boosting the export and replacing the imported goods with the domestic products, the economist said Armenia’s government takes many steps on boosting the export which is visible. As for replacing the imported goods with domestic products, he said this process is still not moving forward.

“Meanwhile, in this context we have serious opportunities. There are serious local resources for production at a number of directions”, the economist said.
