Food safety service discovers violations in 580 retail points during holidays
YEREVAN, JANUARY 16, ARMENPRESS. The State Service for Food Safety (SSFS) conducted heightened supervision in all trade centers and grocery stores throughout the country from the period of December 23 to January 8, Vahe Danielyan, head of the food safety and quality control department of the SSFS told a press conference on January 16.
“Overall, supervision tours were carried out in 816 business operators and irregularities were discovered among 580, namely sale of goods without appropriate labeling, irregularities in storing conditions and in some meat stores the sale of goods without corresponding veterinary inspection. In all discovered cases the goods were confiscated and the business operators were warned and notified”, Danielyan said.
The SSFS hot line received 167 calls during the holidays (12 complaints and 151 counseling calls).
Mr. Danielyan added that taking into consideration the increase of imports and exports, the service carried out heightened control on the border checkpoints in accordance to the PM’s assignment.
