IOC sanctions 8 athletes for failing anti-doping test at Beijing 2008, London 2012; Armenia’s Norayr Vardanyan included

YEREVAN, JANUARY 13, ARMENPRESS. The International Olympic Committee today announced that eight athletes have been disqualified from the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 and London 2012, according to the official IOC website.
The list includes Armenia’s Norayr Vardanyan competing in the men’s 94kg weightlifting event, in which he ranked 11th. Vardanyan has been disqualified from the Olympic Games London 2012. Re-analysis of Vardanyan’s samples from London 2012 resulted in a positive test for the prohibited substances dehydrochlormethyltestosterone.
Norayr Vardanyan is the son of Olympic Champion Yuri Vardanyan. Currently Norayr is representing the United States.
