YEREVAN, JANUARY 13, ARMENPRESS. As a result of the optimization steps, Armenia’s Government has saved more than 5 billion AMD, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan said at a press conference on January 13, summarizing 100 days of the new Government’s activity, reports “Armenpress”.

He said there is a clear logic in the reductions, there are a number of issues in the state apparatus, and the Government will step by step solve them.

The PM identified among those issues the issue of remuneration of public servants, stating that the salaries are very low that result in corruption risks. According to the PM, the remuneration of public servants must depend on their activities.

“I attach a significant importance that we together with you will be able to create normal conditions and relations of joint work. It is important in the work of our government that we ensure interaction with the wide public circles, make the citizens interested in taking part in the initiatives”, the PM said, presenting the works carried out in every field, the results of identifying the problems, as well as what has been done within these 100 days.

He said a number of concrete steps were taken in the fight against corruption, improving the services provided to the citizens, business environment, attracting investments, modernization of public administration system, tourism, infrastructures and other sectors, legislative bills were adopted, the development vision has been prepared. In particular, over three dozen legislative acts in the anti-corruption sector, 35 projects in the investment sector were adopted, certain measures were taken in simplifying tax and customs administration in order to prevent the business from regular inspections.

PM Karapetyan informed that competition will be announced soon over the formation of free economic zone with Iran, there will be proposals and the Government will chose the group that will carry out the function of the implementation of the activity of the free economic zone.
