FM Kurz presents Austrian Chairmanship priorities in OSCE

YEREVAN, JANUARY 12, ARMENPRESS. Acting Chairman of OSCE, Austrian foreign minister Sebastian Kurz presented the main priorities of his chairmanship to the OSCE Permanent Council. Kurtz announced Austria is ready to assume the OSCE chairmanship already the second time since 2000 and contribute to establishment of security and stability in the OSCE region.

He pointed out three main priorities of Austria’s chairmanship: contribute to easing of existing conflicts, unite forces in the fight against radicalism and violent extremism – particularly among the youth, and re-establish trust.

“Our goal is reaching the establishment of security and stability in Europe through the entire tools of the OSCE. We must work to prevent violent extremism in our societies”, Kurz said.

Among the priorities he mentioned the protection of the rights of media freedom and freedom of religion, and the rights of minorities.

“The OSCE proposes all member-states to be a space of dialogue and discussion even in the most difficult situations”, Kurz said.
