YEREVAN, DECEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS. By the decision of the Armenian Ministry of Culture and the Directorate of Pan-Armenian (Hamazgayin) Theatre after Sos Sargsyan, director, scriptwriter Vigen Chaldranyan was appointed creative director of the Theatre, Culture Minister Armen Amiryan told reporters on December 19, reports “Armenpress”.

“By respecting and appreciating the memory of a great master, Sos Sargsyan, we want to give a new impetus to the Theatre, fresh repertoire and bring it out to international arena. I am convinced that Chaldranyan with his experience and high professional skills will have his significant contribution to the Theatre”, the Minister said.

Director of the Pan-Armenian (Hamazgayin) Theatre Vardan Mkrtchyan said after Sos Sargsyan - founder of the Theatre – it seemed impossible the presence of another creative director since Sargsyan played a key role in their life. “I think we have found the right person who can bear this heavy burden. I congratulate Vigen Chaldranyan and want to say that we have many expectations from him”, Vardan Mkrtchyan said.

“I assume a mission rather than a post. I want to create a healthy family and work towards the way of art together with this creative staff. I can fulfill my mission through the support of all of you”, Chaldranyan said. He said he is well familiar with the majority of Theatre members. “I want the Pan-Armenian Theatre to become healthy, competitive theatre. For me theatre is a health resort. The audience must watch the performance, become healthy and then do his/her remaining works, if it isn’t so, this means that it doesn’t serve its goal”, he said.

Speaking about the building of the Theatre, Armen Amiryan said the issue is at the discussion stage, and they already have options, however, the decision is not yet approved, therefore, he didn’t want to present details.

Chaldranyan didn’t want to present details on his future plans, but he said he is going to prepare performances including the Armenian and foreign classical works. He said he is really happy for assuming this post and feels a great responsibility both ahead of the theatre staff and the audience.
