Armenian side has no right to weaken vigilance with Azerbaijan – MP Karen Bekaryan

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian side has no right to ever weaken the vigilance with Azerbaijan, Armenian MP, Chairman of the “European Integration” NGO Karen Bekaryan told reporters, reports “Armenpress”.

“This is an issue which we have discussed for years, that is the following: we don’t have a right to ever weaken the vigilance. The situation dictates so. Azerbaijan will continue the same policy. To say that I have hopes with 2017, that a significant change will be made in Azerbaijan’s manuscript, frankly, I don’t think so. Therefore, the situation is such that we must always be ready”, Karen Bekaryan said.

He said he is one of the persons who doesn’t imagine the settlement of the Karabakh conflict through a document. Bekaryan stated that the solution of the conflict is possible when there is an option to trust to some extent the one who is in front of you, when there is a possibility to outline certain issues and pass a way together.

“We face problem in the political culture field over Azerbaijan. As long as the culture is not changed where the good will, readiness to mutual concessions is being viewed as a sign of weakness, rather than as a perception in terms of second generation’s living together, there would not be any progress. Today that culture doesn’t exist. It is a fact that till now Azerbaijan doesn’t take steps aimed at solving the issue”, Bekaryan said.
