226 thousand people considered unemployed in Armenia

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS. 226 thousand and 600 people are considered unemployed in Armenia according to the data of the second quarter, “Armenpress” reports Head of Labour Statistics Division at National Statistical Service Lusine Kalantaryan told the reporters on December 9, adding that unemployed are those who seek a job but for some reasons are unable to find one. “54% of the unemployed are women. 41% of the unemployed have secondary education and 28% have higher education”, Kalantaryan noted.

The Head of Labour Statistics Division informed that unemployment rate amounts to 18.4%. She noted that unemployment rate is higher among the youth compared with older people. “This does not mean that older people find a job easier. This means that older people do not even try to find a job since they have no hope for a success”, Lusine Kalantaryan said.
