Translation error of Lavrov’s speech in Turkey causes scandal

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov’s speech was incorrectly translated during a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Antalya. The translation mistake caused misunderstanding and a scandal.

Maria Zakharova – spokesperson of the Russian foreign ministry, commented on the issue saying:

“The Turkish press reports that Sergey Lavrov has announced at a press conference, as if “The Syrian Army has carried out the attack on Turkish positions”. The minister said the exact opposite: “neither Russia, nor Syria have attacked Turkish positions”.
