YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. The regular ceasefire violations by Azerbaijan in the Nagorno Karabakh-Azerbaijan line of contact don’t allow to say that country is ready to peacefully settle the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Artak Zakaryan told “Armenpress”.

“We must always expect danger and threat from Azerbaijan. The time will show the intensity of that threat, however, at the moment there is no possibility of large-scale war”, he said.

He said there is no possibility of war since the balance of powers is not clearly highlighted in the region.

“There is no such possibility for the simple reason since the Defense Army of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic is able to act as a restraining factor. The entire paradox is that today there is a deadlock for Aliyev’s policy. Returning to the peaceful negotiations and speaking about peace means that Aliyev will obviously accept the fake policy that he has carried out inside. By going to war, new adventures, there is a great risk that it can have devastating impact on the whole Azerbaijani society. In this deadlock situation, Aliyev will take controversial steps, such as will bring the establishment in Lele Tepe hilltop as an encouraging example and at the same time will speak about the peaceful negotiations”, the MP said.

He said Lele Tepe can never be an encouraging example since, if the war is not ended, and it is not ended, we can say that there are numerous “Lele Tepes” in the entire territory of Azerbaijan from where the NKR Defense Army forces can built stronger security links.

“Therefore, Aliyev must consider that numerous “Lele Tepes” in his territory can become important strategic objects for the NKR Defense Army, rather than to think how to use Lele Tepe as a propaganda trick for his society. It means nothing that Azerbaijan took one-two positional advantage during the April war. It has zero impact and zero significance over the stance of the Armenian side on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement”, the MP stated.
