Working group to be established aimed at entering Iranian market with simplified procedure

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan instructed the Minister of Economic Development and Investments to jointly discuss and submit the PM’s draft decision on creating a working group aimed at boosting the export of Armenian products, in particular, the food and agricultural products, to the Iranian market together with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Healthcare and Agriculture within 5 days, reports “Armenpress”.

The PM said the working group must cooperate with the Iranian side aimed at establishing respective institutional structures in Armenia to ensure all the necessary permissions for the export of the Armenian products to the Iranian market. The PM said it is necessary in order for the Armenian products to be in compliance with the Iranian standards and to enter the Iranian market with a simplified procedure.

“The head of the working group will be instructed to submit a report on carried out works until December 25. I think, the instruction is clear: we have a neighboring big market, that market has a high demand, and we have only a small percentage in that demand. Based on this, always the market and the consumer dictates in what form, what quality, what criteria our product must be consistent with. Therefore, I think that if we work efficiently here, we can acquire big portions, big scales in that market”, PM Karapetyan said.

At the same time, the PM instructed the Minister of Economic Development and Investments, as well as the Chairman of State Revenue Committee to jointly discuss the possibility of establishing a free economic zone in the territory bordering Iran with the interested bodies and entrepreneurs and to submit a proposal until December 25.
