YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 15, ARMENPRESS. The “Yazidi heroes of the Nagorno Karabakh War” film – made with the Presidential grant, will premier on November 16 in Yerevan’s “Moscow” Cinema.

Initiator and author of the film’s concept Said Avdalyan told a press conference in ARMENPRESS the film’s shooting lasted for 7 months.

“We tried to make a movie about Yazidis who took part and fell during the entire period of the Nagorno Karabakh War – since 1988 up to present day. Overall more than 500 Yazidis took part in the Nagorno Karabakh War, 45 of them died. There was some ignorance about the Yazidi participation in the Nagorno Karabakh War among the Armenian and Yazidi society. In order to fill this gap, we attempted to tell the stories about Yazidi heroes in one documentary movie”, Avdalyan said.

The movie was shot in two languages – Armenian and Yazidi. It is planned to translate it into other languages as well.

Director of the film, Nairi Hokhikyan, says filming took place in Nagorno Karabakh, in the actual location and posts where Yazidis fought and died.

“Filming also took place in those locations where never before filming was done, where never before reporters have set foot. Those are locations where Armenian and Yazidi paramilitary troops have fought and died. As a director, it was important for me to present people’s portrait, character”, he said.
