Edvard Munch’s painting sold for 54 million USD in NYC auction
11:11, 15 November 2016YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 15, ARMENPRESS. Norwegian artist Edvard Munch’s “Girls on the Bridge” was sold at Sotheby’s in New York for over 54 million dollars.
"Girls on the Bridge" was sold Monday in Manhattan. The 1902 painting depicts a cluster of girls huddled on the bridge of a country village.
Back in 1996 it was sold for 7,7 million, and again in 2008 for 30,8 million.
In 2012, Munch's "The Scream" sold for $119.9 million at Sotheby's, becoming the most expensive artwork ever sold at an auction, a record that has been broken four times since.
