YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 7, ARMENPRESS. The renovation of Sundukyan National Academic Theater is completed.

Culture Minister Armen Amiryan, Artistic Director of the Theater Armen Elbakyan, Director Stepan Davtyan toured the theater with reporters on November 7 and reviewed the new stage mechanism, lighting and sound systems.

“The renovation began in 2015, financed by an Austrian organization. We received assistance from the Ministry of Culture”, Director Stepan Davtyan said.

According to Artistic Director Armen Elbakyan, the new stage equipment allow solving different problems. “Decorations are hanged on them. Prior to the renovation their movement made a horrible noise, now there are 47 new equipments on the stage, each of them with 300 kg capacity”, he said.

According to him, the artistic level of stage plays does not depend on equipment. “It depends on the talent of artists, however the main pulse of the theater is the atmosphere, which is the heart of the play: the equipment will contribute to the formation of that atmosphere”, Elbakyan said.

The Sundukyan Theater was founded in 1922.
