Armenia, Indonesia eliminate visa requirement for certain types of passport holders

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian on November 1 held a meeting with Foreign Minister of Indonesia Retno Marsudi within the framework of his official visit to Indonesia, press service of the Ministry told “Armenpress”.

Issues related to the development of bilateral relations, intensifying the political dialogue between the two states, boosting the inter-parliamentary ties, expanding the legal framework, as well as other regional, international issues were discussed.

Edward Nalbandian said his visit to Jakarta aims to further develop the friendly relations with Indonesia. He said a progress has been achieved in the bilateral relations such as a number of agreements were implemented, the Armenian Embassy has been established in Jakarta, Indonesia eliminated the visa requirement for the Armenian citizens, Indonesia cultural days were held in Armenia, cooperation has been established between the educational institutions of the two countries.

They also discussed the situation in the Middle East, the Syrian crisis, the refugee issue, fight against terrorism and peaceful settlement of conflicts.

Edward Nalbandian presented his counterpart the efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairing countries aimed at creating appropriate conditions for moving forward the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process.

Nalbandian invited Retno Marsudi to visit Armenia.

At the end of the meeting the two FMs signed an agreement on eliminating the vise requirement for diplomatic and service passport holders between the two countries, as well as a cooperation agreement was signed between the two Foreign Ministries.

The Armenian FM, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Indonesia Mohamad Nasir signed a letter of intent on mutual cooperation in science, technology and higher education fields.

After the signing ceremony the two FMs held a press conference.
