Theater employee found dead on stage, no foul play according to initial reports

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 27, ARMENPRESS. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the cause of death of an employee of the Stanislavski Russian Drama Theater in Yerevan.

The Investigative Committee told ARMENPRESS an investigation is launched in the Kentron and Nork Marash department to clarify the circumstances of the 65 year old employee’s death (G. Musheghyan).

According to initial reports, 65 year old Astghik Mushegyan died after falling on the stage of the Stanislavski theater on October 26 at 23:00. The scene is being examined and forensic expertise is set to be carried out, the coroner’s report is yet to be published.

Director of the Theater, Frederick M. Davtyan told ARMENPRESS the incident happened after the final play of the Shakespeare festival.

“The workers cleaned the stage and left. For some reason, Astghik Musheghyan climbed up to remove the speakers and fell. The guards heard a loud noise. We is strictly prohibited to undertake similar actions at night time”, he said.

According to Davtyan, rumors are circulating that the woman might have suffered a heart attack or stroke.
