YEREVAN, OCTOBER 21, ARMENPRESS. By carrying out sabotage actions Azerbaijan is trying to save its face. Aliyev is trying to receive dividends in the domestic political field thus, demonstrating himself as a patriot to the Azerbaijani people, NKR President’s Spokesman Davit Babayan told “Armenpress” commenting on the sabotage infiltration attempts carried out by the Azerbaijani side on October 20 in the Nagorno Karabakh-Azerbaijan line of contact.

“Taking into account the failure of the April war blitzkrieg, the Azerbaijani leadership does everything possible to save its face by taking such steps that characterize the criminal. Azerbaijan carries out sabotage attempts, uses snipers thus showing that it exists. Moreover, with such steps Aliyev is trying to receive dividends in the domestic political field thus showing his people how patriot he is. Whereas, in the meantime he continues to rob the Azerbaijanis”, Davit Babayan said.

To “Armenpress” question to what extent such actions are related with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ visit, Davit Babayan said they are not directly related with it.

“They are not directly related, but we must notice that during such visits the Azerbaijani actions are being intensified. Of course, taking such steps during the Co-Chairs’ visit is illogical, however, the criminal state doesn’t act with a logic”, he said.

On October 20, at 23:00-23:30, Azerbaijan carried out sabotage infiltration attempts in the eastern and southern directions of the Nagorno Karabakh-Azerbaijan line of contact. The Defense Army units detected the advance of the Azerbaijani special forces in time and pushed them back to their starting positions by inflicting losses. During the confrontation with the sabotage unit the Defense Army did not sustain losses.
