GYUMRI, OCTOBER 4, ARMENPRESS. In an extraordinary session on October 4 the City Council of Gyumri unanimously confirmed the decision of granting Olympic gold medalist, Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Aleksanyan with "Honorary citizen of Gyumri" title. “Armenpress” reports the Council also took a decision of providing money rewards to the coaches and sportsmen who recorded good results during 2016 Olympics and European tournaments by allocating 11 million and 700 thousand AMD from the community budget.

Apart from this, there were other top issues on the Council’s agenda. The last issue on the agenda was depriving the chairman of board of trustees of "Pyunik" Human Resources Development Fund, doctor of historical sciences, Professor Levon A. Sargsyan of "Honorary citizen of Gyumri" title. The previous Council session had decided to grant Levon Sargsyan with "Honorary citizen of Gyumri” title. All the Council members, with the exception of Levon Barseghyan, voted against depriving Levon Sargsyan of "Honorary citizen of Gyumri" title.
